BACKGROUND

Bill Lennert has built a successful career in marketing, content creation and event production in the media, sports and entertainment, travel / hospitality and the non-profit worlds.

Lennert’s experience has taken him to the four corners of the Unites States (New York, Florida, Washington and Southern California) to work at such high-profile companies such as: The Walt Disney Co., ESPN, ABC Radio, Bonneville Media and iHeart Media.

In the sports world, Lennert has worked with 14 professional and college sports franchises including: NFL (L.A. Rams, San Diego Chargers, and Seattle Seahawks); NBA (L.A. Lakers and L.A. Clippers); MLB (L.A. Dodgers, Anaheim Angels, San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners); NHL (Anaheim Ducks); MLS (Seattle Sounders); and NCAA Football and Basketball (USC, Washington State and San Diego State).

Throughout his career, Lennert has served as charity committees, supported fundraising campaigns or spearheaded programs with such organizations such as: Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, The Fisher House Seattle, Children’s Hospital San Diego, ESPN’s V Foundation, Tree House (Foster Care in Seattle), Salvation Army’s San Diego Fire Relief Effort, Museum of Television and Radio and The Long Beach Partnership in Education Program.

In his spare time, Bill enjoys photography, attending sporting events and concerts, cooking and hanging out with his family.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Warrior Foundation Freedom Station

Vice President, Marketing & Development

Directed brand, strategy, traditional marketing, digital marketing and development plans for non-profit military foundation supporting medically retired veterans with transitional housing, mentorship and personal development programs. Created and executed strategic plans; advertising, promotions and publicity campaigns; digital assets; content creation; eCommerce; print collateral; and development with grants, corporate sponsorship and national / local media fundraising events.

iHeart Media

Senior Director, Promotions & Events | San Diego, CA

Managed, created and implemented promotions, publicity and event production for four media properties at iHeart Media San Diego. Developed, produced and managed iHeart events including: festivals, large-scale events, broadcasts, concerts / performances, client activations, broadcasts and VIP parties. Sports partnerships included: San Diego Chargers (former), San Diego State Football & Basketball.

Jump Production Group

Consultant / Marketing & Development | San Diego, CA

Co-launched Jump Production Group, a content creation production house, which specialized in producing business programming, live events and digital content. Created and directed brand guide, content and development. 

Bonneville Media

Marketing Director | Seattle, WA

Directed advertising, digital campaigns, social media, promotions, publicity, community relations and event production for three media properties and news / community website (MyNorthWest.com). Sports media partnerships included: Seattle Seahawks, Sounders, Mariners and Washington State.

ESPN

Director of Marketing & Events | Los Angeles, CA

Managed marketing/brand strategy, advertising, promotions, public relations, website, social and event production for ESPN L.A. (2 radio stations and web properties). Conducted synergy projects with ESPN SportsCenter, ESPNU, ESPYS Awards, WatchESPN, ESPN Mobile, ESPN.com, V Foundation and X Games. Sports partnerships included: Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers, Angels and USC Football & Basketball.

iHeart Media

Marketing & Research Director | San Diego, CA

Directed marketing (advertising, promotions, PR and community relations), graphic design department, group sponsorship projects and research (internal/external) for iHeart Media (formally Clear Channel Communications). In 1997, started as Marketing Director for 4 radio stations; promoted to Marketing Director of cluster of 11 stations in 2000 (at peak 15); and added Research Director duties in 2005. Sports partnerships included: San Diego Padres, San Diego Chargers, Anaheim Ducks, USC and San Diego State Football & Basketball.

ABC Radio

Assistant Marketing Director + Media Relations Director | Los Angeles, CA

Assisted with the advertising, promotions, broadcasts and on-site events for legendary news/talks news and sports media properties and media relations for KLOS heritage classic rock station. Editorial and Creative Director for “Let’s Talk! Magazine,” an award-winning quarterly revenue generating four-color magazine, with 125,000 circulation throughout Southern California – at the time a larger distribution than L.A. Magazine.

IHEART MEDIA:

Created, supervised and coordinated 100+ events from large-scale to intimate productions including: “Cinco by the Bay,” a Cinco de Mayo festival on the San Diego Bay featuring Mexican music, culture, cuisine and tequila tastings for 5k+ attendees.

IHEART MEDIA:

Launched and produced annual iHeart Media’s (formerly Clear Channel Communications) Children’s Hospital Radiothon with six radio stations which generated $2.7M in donations and $500k in revenue as project manager during four-year tenure.

CAREER:

Managed and directed media marketing partnerships with 14 professional and collegiate sports teams including: NFL (Seahawks, Chargers and Rams); NBA (Lakers and Clippers); MLB (Dodgers, Angels, Padres and Mariners); MLS (Sounders); NHL (Ducks); and NCAA (USC, Washington State and San Diego State).

ESPN:

Strategized, art directed, produced and acted as media planner and buyer for numerous ad campaigns including: ESPN L.A. advertising campaign that generated 1M+ listener audience – a 125% growth.

CAREER:

Secured and coordinated 100+ feature print stories with L.A. Times, Washington Post and USA Today; 600+ local, national and international radio broadcasts; 20+ ESPN TV/Radio simulcasts; and 300+ local and national television stories with programs and media outlets such as: 60 Minutes, The Today Show, 48 Hours, Entertainment Tonight, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and ESPN.

ESPN:

Developed and produced original digital content for ESPN’s X GAMES (Summer and Winter) that featured on-air, on-line and social media with X Game athlete interviews, live reports along with video and photos of event. Promotions included: on-site activations, photo op displays, live TV/radio broadcasts, on-air contests and fly-away sponsor sweepstakes.

DISNEY:

Established and serviced Walt Disney corporate sponsors at the Queen Mary & Spruce Goose (Goodyear Tires, National Car Rental and Carnation Ice Cream) and media / retail campaigns that generated $2M+ in exposure.
